This is an interesting new way for consumers to find products they see and love. No more seeing something great and getting irritated because you can't figure out which verbiage will sync to find the item you are looking for. Pinterest has released a way to search pictures within pins even if they are not linked. This is a pretty cool feature but after testing it quite a few times I think that some pictures can present pretty accurate results but a few were lacking. As you can see below, the search tool was perfect when searching the Spider-man poster from the wall. Just another great way for customers who love your products to give more exposure to consumers. Here is a link for more information on how to use the tool. https://blog.pinterest.com/en/our-crazy-fun-new-visual-search-tool

This article gave some good insight on measuring how your social media marketing is effecting your business. Just because you have 1,500 followers and 600 likes on every the occasional post doesn't mean that you're making money. According to Eric Ries, this is called "vanity metrics" because numbers like this always look good but it is the bottom line that always matters in business. Social media marketing changes on a daily basis and is continually improving but you have to stay informed because it WILL effect your business. Social media marketing is used to acquire new customers and ultimately lead to sales. In this article they also explain how conversion points are placed so that you can measure traffic flow. They gave an example of this for Adobe Photoshop but I saw this first hand when I managed a website. You can view how many people clicked on the link and got to your home page. If the home page numbers are really high but the rest of your pages are lacking in traffic then you need to find something that will draw the customers attention to important buttons to keep them engaged. After you have set your goals the next step would be to use Google analytics which is easily setup with the URL builder tool. Now by building campaigns through each social media outlet you can see where visitors are coming from so that you can optimize the use of that page whether on Facebook, Twitter, etc. and improve your image on the other sites. Hopefully this article helps you understand the importance of knowing your customer base and what keeps them engaged in your business! |
