There are two keys to getting people to interact with your posts. Post engaging graphics and videos and don't get too "wordy" in posts. When being introduced to the social media world I think most people feel like the best way to get your point across is a 500 word post that in the end puts your audience to sleep or even worse.....they just scroll right past that post that took forever to write!
They say that the first and last 3 words of a post are actually seen so you need to make them catch potential customers attention. We are a society that are much more intrigued by visuals. Focus your energy on relevant and entertaining photos and videos. If you are posting it then you do want to make sure that it is good quality otherwise it could cause confusion and have an adverse effect. It seems like videos are becoming a go to for companies which is scary for people like me who are terrified of being recorded. However you can rely on other peoples videos to boost your own brand as well if they are using your products. I think a key example is the "Chewbacca Mom" video by Candace Payne that blew up overnight and increased the popularity of ALL THINGS Chewbacca! I'm pretty confident that 100% of the people that are reading this have seen the video at least once. We were not intentionally being sold to in this video but were very entertained by the video that she posted and I don't think Hasbro could've planned it better themselves. Here is another video I just came across where she was encouraging viewers to go get a Hasbro game for a family night and it has gotten 2.5 million views....that's just social media GOLD!! https://m.facebook.com/story.php?story_fbid=10209891614587429&id=1245618915 In the following link there are some fascinating statistics as far as how long certain videos should be and "the ideal character length" a post should be on each platform such as Facebook, Twitter and even hashtags. https://blog.bufferapp.com/optimal-length-social-media

Pokémon Go has taken over in about 2 weeks time and companies everywhere are using it to attract customers to spend money!! Forbes has said it's the "most popular mobile game of all time." The way the game works is that you can track the pokemon creatures on the app and capture them. There are also bonuses at special places that are important to the town that they are in. Firewheel Town Center and 1001 Bargains are both taking advantage of the new game via Facebook to get customers to come to their location and it looks like it proved pretty successful for Firewheel with 366 "likes", 62 comments and 50 shares. I guess it was so successful that they created an event called "Pokémon Go! In the park" which after 6 hours has almost 500 people interested and 96 attending! My husband and I went to Northpark on Sunday and as we walked through we had never seen so many groups huddled around their phones then it clicked that they were playing the new hit game. It's crazy to think that all these places needed were some imaginary creatures to chase around town and the best part is that it doesn't cost a dime for advertising. It pretty much sells itself at this point! What will they think of next??
http://www.forbes.com/sites/miketempleman/2016/07/14/how-to-use-pokemon-go-for-marketing/#2d2f5cc97929 Did you know that The Peanuts movie paid $750,000 to sponsor the Snapchat lens above on Halloween for just 24 hours?! That is just the price tag for a holiday but they can get down to $275,000 for a non peak day. Many films are using this as advertising with their big budgets along with other brands such as Starbucks and Michael Kors. One of the sponsors got 29 million users to take part in their lens and it got over 41 million views. Isn't it crazy that this one little app can generate so many views?? |
